Women Transforming Toronto
WDC’s Toronto Monday program featured presentations and tours by ground-breaking women who are transforming downtown Toronto with inclusive design and innovative mixed use developments. The program began next to Union Station at KG&A’s offices with an inspiring panel of Toronto women developers followed by a tour through downtown Toronto finishing with a reception at Urban Strategies. The afternoon program spotlighted Toronto women developers and entrepreneurs including Kim Graham, Zahra Ebrahim, Laurie Payne, Sherry Larjani, Heather Grey-Wolf, and Eve Lewis. The evening program concluded at Urban Strategies, where we will hear from Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker, Mary Castel and Melanie Hare of Urban Strategies about their work on the ULI global award-winning Alex Park development as well as many other inclusive projects across Canada. Our closing reception featured Mediterranean delicacies from Little Sito, a local BIPOC woman entrepreneur.
Women Making History– Redevelopment of Toronto’s Downtown Eastside
WDC’s Thursday program showcased how Toronto’s downtown eastside neighborhoods have been transformed while building upon and strengthening its historic architecture. The program began at Bousfields followed by a neighborhood tour featuring women-led developments led by Emma West. We capped off the evening with dinner at Terroni Adelaide in Toronto’s historic 1852-built courthouse with curated conversations about transformative development and investment in Canada and US.
Many thanks to our Toronto hosts and sponsors, including Bousfields, kg&a and Urban Strategies, for showing how women are making history and transforming Toronto!
